NEW BOOK FOR COLLEGE GIRLS DISCUSSES
FAITH, WOMANHOOD

ISBN-10: 1604778466 (Paperback)
ISBN-13: 978-1604778465 (Hardcover)

(Dallas, TX, October 1, 2008) – Many college-aged Christian
girls go through a crisis during the early college years. This
crisis can derail their faith and undermine their confidence.
In her new book The College Precipice: Faith and Life for
Young Women (Xulon Press, May 2008), author Anna L.
Davis encourages college girls to profoundly trust God with
everything – from choosing a major to deeper issues like
feminine identity.

This trust, she says, will help women develop a God-
centered confidence during their undergraduate years. But in
a culture where movies like “Sex and the City” skyrocket to
box office success and nomination of a female vice
presidential candidate creates chaos in the media, Godly
confident womanhood seems difficult to define.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What's a precipice and what does it have to do
with college?

A. A precipice is a steep cliff, or situation of great peril. This
definition accurately describes what it feels like to leave behind
what you know at home to face an unknown future in college.

In her
blog, author Anna L. Davis writes, "During the summer
between high school and college, I felt so many emotions that I
hardly knew what to do with them. Relief, excitement, sadness,
and fear of the unknown, just to name a few. I remember
thinking at the time that it felt like standing at the edge of a
precipice, with my future on the other side, and a giant chasm
between me and my future."

Q. There are many books available for Christian
students going to college. How is this one
different?

A. The College Precipice: Faith and Life for Young Women is
the only book of this type that's specifically for women. Our
culture today sends a certain message about womanhood, that
says women should be self-advancing, sexually confident, and
independent. This message comes across loud and clear on
the college campus, and can really challenge the Christian
faith. So Christian girls are caught in this struggle between the
self-denial taught in their church, and the self-absorption
promoted by our culture. But what we find in this book is that
God is big enough to handle these questions.
